Ive had teachers admit that they smoked weed, drove drunk, etc. but it doesnt make them a bad person. I would totally hire her.

Adult film is a legitimate job, she wasnt a pedophile or a meth addict. You dont need to turn your life around or straighten out from something thats perfectly legal and unharmful. If the kids are under 18 they shouldnt be watching anyway. Let her teach science, people can be smart and still bone. (although it seems that only the unintelligent ones procreate constantly)
Isnt it our job to talk to our kids about issues that come up, issues like finding a video of their teacher doing the dirty deed online? We are, after all, talking about a woman who teaches older kids, kids old enough to search the Internet and find her adult films. These kids should be at a cognitive level where their parents can discuss this issue rationally. By this age, kids should be old enough to understand that humans are flawed, that sometimes we have things in our past that we arent proud of, but that the important thing is what we have done about it.

In the latest bit of news that confirms America is full of prudes, a California woman dubbed the star teacher by the media has lost her bid to return to teaching kids middle school science. Stacie Halas was fired last year after students found out shed starred in adult films, even though shed straightened out her life and gone legitimate with a teaching career. And now a panel of judges says Halas can never really be a good teacher because of her past.
Shes an adult. She has a naughty past. So what?

Im sorry but high school kids dont have the maturity to see past something like this. So no she cant be effective in the classroom when thats all theyre going to be thinking about. As parents, we expect our kids teachers to do a good job inside a classroom. We want them to engage our kids and help them learn. But theyre still people, people who have private lives beyond the classroom. Isnt our job as parents to teach our kids about the boundaries between private and professional?

Geeze! This is the problem anymore, apparently you cant actually turn your life around. Sorry, but that is the kind of person I want to be teaching my kid! She turned her life around, kids are more likely to listen to someone who was in a bad place and changed things...I know I was!

The is the past. If this teacher went to college and earned the degree then she should be teaching. Show me one person who hasnt made a past mistake. If anything she knows where she came from and is a better life for herself. I am sure many of the teachers have things in their past that they would not want the public to know about. She is human and just maybe she could be a role model to others on how she chose to change her life.
